“Safe at Second Base” Breast Cancer Awareness Event on June 13th

Baseball and community health awareness will take center stage this summer as the Greensboro Ducks face off against the Mid-State Melon Mashers in the “Safe at Second Base” game at Providence Grove High School on June 13th.

Hosted by Melon Mashers Baseball, this special event goes beyond the diamond—bringing attention to the importance of early detection and preventative care in the fight against breast cancer.

In partnership with The Breast Center of Greensboro Imaging, the event will feature an on-site mobile mammography unit, often referred to as the “mammogram bus.” This service will provide convenient access to screenings for those who pre-register ahead of game day. Organizers emphasize that appointments are required, and certain eligibility restrictions may apply.

“This event is about more than just baseball,” said Carter Catlett the General Manager of Melon Mashers Baseball. “It’s about making sure our community members, and their loved ones stay healthy and proactive.”

Fans attending the game can expect an exciting matchup between two competitive teams, along with an opportunity to support a meaningful cause. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., and community members of all ages are encouraged to attend.

Whether you’re cheering from the stands or taking advantage of the screening services, the message of the evening is clear: prioritize your health and make sure you and your loved ones are “Safe at Second Base.”
