Melon Mashers Baseball Player Opportunities Available
The Mid-State Melon Mashers are a new independent collegiate summer league wood-bat team based in the Triad Area of North Carolina. We are a new team who will begin playing in the summer of 2026. Our goal is to provide quality summer baseball experience at a reasonable price for players who are looking to improve their game by playing quality competition on the field while putting in the work off the field. We will be playing our home games at Providence Grove High School in Climax, North Carolina. Providence Grove offers a diamond with college dimensions, a spacious player locker room, and indoor and outdoor batting cages. The season will include a 30–35 game schedule designed to give players consistent reps against strong competition.
Shane Worth will be our head coach next summer. Shane is currently the Head Baseball Coach at Providence Grove High School with over 25 years of coaching experience. Shane coached the Randolph Ropin’ Roosters of the Old North State League last summer.
We have scheduling agreements in place with the Queen City Baseball League in Charlotte, several local independent teams, local Old North State League teams, and we already have two games with Coastal Plain League teams.
We are looking to fill our roster with approximately 30 to 35 players to ensure we have enough pitching to safely get everyone the innings they need next summer and minimize the risk of injury. We will also make sure everyone gets ample at-bats during the season to help everyone to continue to develop.
While we do charge a fee to play, that money is reinvested into the players to help ensure a worthwhile experience. For example, we have teamed with Dr. Jesse Perry, founder of The Process Sports Performance, provide both physical training opportunities to our players. We have also partnered with Diamond Extreme Training (DXT) in Kernersville which allows are players access to indoor batting cages, pitching machines, portable mounds, and an indoor infield. With this partnership each player's fee will include will the following:
● Three Rapsodo/Trackman assessments per player with video and complete data analytics.
● Access to DXT’s indoor batting cages, pitching machines, indoor mounds, and indoor infield
● Discounted treatment sessions/assessments with Dr. Jesse Perry
Players will also receive the following as part of their player fee:
● Team Swag (t-shirts, shorts, hats, etc.)
● Wood bats (the team will provide each player with a bat and replace them accordingly if the break)
● Discounts on equipment and team merchandise
We’re committed to creating a professional and competitive summer experience for our players while making a positive impact off the field.
As part of our program, players will engage in community initiatives that support the Melon Mashers’ mission to raise awareness for breast cancer.
If you have any players that would be interested in playing competitive baseball next summer in the Triad Area, please let me know, I would like to connect with them. We are looking to build our team as early as possible and putting a quality team on the field next summer.
